As you may have heard by now Grafitti Artist Revok (Jason Williams) was arrested last week and sentenced to six months in jail for ‘Vandalism.’ The artist has been creating new works around the city of Los Angeles in connection with the MOCA ‘Art in the Streets’ exhibition and last Thursday was apprehended by police at Los Angeles Airport.
Police say that “As a result of evidence discovered during his April 21 arrest, other incidents of vandalism were found in the county of Los Angeles.”
Aparently the arrest had nothing to do with these new pieces Revok had been creating, but more to the fact that Revok had violated the terms of his parole from a previous vandalism conviction by “not paying sufficient restitution to his victims.”
With the arrest upsetting many in the art community, SEVER has designed a ‘Free Revok’ with all proceeds will be donated to Revok’s legal fund to help him pay his legal fees. The shirts are available in black and white. Fans of Revok can get ahold of the tees from The Seventh Letter.
