Giuliano Fujiwara Fall/Winter 2010 Collection
Giuliano Fujiwara showcases the 2010 Fall/Winter collection this week at Milan fashion week. Characterized by a distinctive mix of Japanese Minimalist aesthetics and an overtly Italian masculinity. Led by Head designer and Creative Director, Masataka Matsumara, the 2010 f/w collection showcases the label’s edgy, yet wearable take on samurai sportswear. Focusing on fluid pants and heavy layering, Matsumara puts together impressive array of layered styles that includes a series of knits and an exceptional range of outerwear from cropped blazers, to lengthened leather jackets, enlivened with oversized beads reminiscent of Buddhist prayer beads, and the occasional crimson and earth-tone colors that juxtaposes with a deep grunge black. The footwear department consists of mainly high-cut silhouette sneakers with a futuristic look. A great collection overall which I’m sure will further strengthen the label’s position in menswear and aid in restoring giuliano Fujiwara as a label to it’s former glory of the 80′s and early 90′s.
