Nike Air Force 1 Supreme “Year of the Rabbit”
Following our initial look at the Nike Air Force 1 Supreme “Year of the Rabbit”, here is a more detailing and insightful look at a shoe that represents such a moment-us occasion in the Chinese calendar.
With Chinese Lunar New Year just around the corner, Nike is launching a specially designed shoe to celebrate the arrival of the year of the Rabbit. Nike has drawn inspiration from the Chinese zodiac, for the 10th year in a row, to design a uniquely Chinese Air Force 1 Low Supreme. A rabbit motif combines illustration, Chinese character and multiple materials in a white, varsity royal and crimson color scheme.
sentiments associated with the country’s most important festival.
The Air Force 1, first designed back in 1982, has a history of Nike’s Chinese New Year inspired designs. This is the sixth time the shoe has received a Chinese zodiac inspired twist. The Year of the Rabbit Air Force 1 Low Supreme is predominantly a clean and simple pearl white base. The rabbit insignia is captured on the heel and the Chinese character ‘tu’ (rabbit in Chinese) features on the shoes tongue. Light-bone platinum suede panels create subtly contrasting textures. The beautifully colored varsity royal pops against a raised crimson Swoosh designs on each side of the shoe. The striking colors continue with the crimson chenille of the tongue, the royal varsity blue inner lining, and immaculate wax-finished shoelaces. The year 2011 is debossed onto the deubre.
The inspiration for this year’s design reaches its apex in a uniquely designed packaging that provides the perfect complement to a shoe bursting with a festive playful spirit of the holiday season.
