Stussy Deluxe has partnered with photographer and author Collier Schorr to create a series of images that highlights pieces from the Spring 2011 collection. Schorr is the latest artist Stussy Deluxe has invited to create work that organically incorporates product in methods true to their fine art techniques. “The idea that one can have an adventure anywhere and that a backyard can be a paradise was the inspiration behind the shoot,” says Schorr. When asked about first memories of the Stussy brand, she replied, “I stole my brother’s friend’s sweatshirt during college break and recently confessed the crime. Apparently, I owe him now.”
Collier Schorr’s photographs, videos and vitrines address appropriated identities and shifting histories. Schorr was born in New York in 1963, attended the School of Visual Arts, New York (1986) and in 2007-2008 was a Guna S. Mundheim Fellow at the American Academy, Berlin. Schorr has written for Artforum, Parkett and Frieze magazines. Her new book Forests and Fields Volume 2: Blumen was published by SteidlMACK in January. Schorr lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. The Stussy Deluxe Spring 2011 collection is available now.
