If you run a streetwear imprint, or basically any other company that makes cool shit, and didn’t do at least one collaboration in 2013, you were in the wildly over-whelming minority. Everyone was doing it. Even artists, musicians, and pop icons got in on the action.

ALIFE had a break out 2013, nailing not just their clothing designs but a whole set of parties, concerts, and cultural occurrences in NYC. One of their best efforts of the year was a collaboration with Katz’s Deli, the Empire City’s undisputed king of deli creations.

Dom Perignon may already be high class, but they got high brow artsy with Jeff Koons on a limited edition champagne. If you could afford this piece of liquor art, you probably had something to celebrate it with.

Ace Hotel X Converse

Whether it’s filling their rooms with unexpected furniture, or bringing in streetwear houses to create co-branded products, the Ace Hotel loves to get creative in the way they interact with their loyal customers. Their Converse hi-tops were another big hit.

A Bathing Ape X Schott NYC One Star Riders Jacket

Schott NYC already makes the kind of jackets that leather aficionados salivate over, but they looped in lovers of Japanese design with their A Bathing Ape collaboration.

Ronnie Fieg is the king of sneaker collaborations: The Best Ronnie Fieg Shoes of 2013. Yeah, he got his own list. But right after it was published, he went and released the above PUMA kicks. And they were killer.

Kanye West X Wes Lang Yeezus Merch

Everyone was talking about Kanye‘s Yeezus bomber jacket and it’s Confederate Flag patches. What they should have been focusing on was the rest of the tattoo-inspired tour merch pieces that Wes Lang designed for him.

Raf Simons X adidas Footwear

Raf Simmons likes to get wild when he designs for adidas. He dropped a whole slew of Transformer-esque sneakers in 2013, each one better than the last.

Round-framed sunglasses made a big comeback in 2013, but Thom Browne‘s limited-edition pieces for colette put all of them to shame.

Jay Z x Barneys

Collaborations

 

After the profiling scandal that went down at Barneys, Jay Z probably regretting going in on his high-end collab with the department store. But either way, the pieces he helped design were very awesome.
