Nike Sportswear have teamed up with the hugely talented pairing of David Sims and Karl Templer to present the story for one of the labels most iconic pieces of clothing “The AW77”. The series consists of seven of Nike’s most exciting athletes, including Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova, Sofia Boutella, Alexandre Pato, Manny Pacquiao, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
Off-court and on athletes, the angle see’s Nike Sportswear’s in it’s true essence as David Sims photographed seven athletes styled and directed by Karl Templer. Three months in four cities, the seven athletes each bring their own attitude and off-court persona to help deliver a series of images that are passionate, competitive, dynamic, gracious, self-expressive and honest.
Having seen the US Open begin in fine fashion we could not think of an athlete more fitting to be the first we put into the spotlight for this interesting project than Rafael Nadal. Back from injury and ready to fight back to number one spot in the world, Nadal is a genuine champion and perhaps one that will become as iconic as “The AW77”.
“I think in the end, the most important thing is being true to yourself, being honest with yourself. You know what you are doing wrong, then, you correct and improve.” “Off the court, I see that being normal will help you be better on the court. I like more or less to feel comfortable with what I wear on and off the court. And I like to be well dressed.” Rafael Nadal
