A fascinating article about Japanese School Uniforms has come to print on PingMag detailing the long history of the fine craftsmenship "The school uniform, seifuku, in Japan started over a hundred years ago, in the Meiji period. According to the Tombow Uniform Museum, first a more formal kimono, shirt and hakama combination was selected by the Ministry of Education, to “escalate” the profile of students."

With appearance and a lot of attention to detail large part of the Japanese society and culture, an attitue which is in contrast to Western world this story makes for an interesting read.
