It’s almost 2014, and our cars don’t fold up into suitcases yet (which is bullshit), but at least our t-shirts can be 3D. En Noir and Barneys New York are releasing an exclusive line of photo realism t-shirts, a technique of embroidery that was previously used only on smaller scales due to the high cost of production. But now En Noir is pioneering new uses for this technique by employing it on a large scale, using an entire garment. The process combines digital printing and hand embroidery layered over the print to build a texture that you can both feel and see coming off the tee, giving it a unique 3D effect. Each shirt is made of a polyester blend in the USA.
