Damien Hirst’s name is synonymous in the contemporary art scene and continues to lead the way when we talk about pop art. Opening on January 12, Hirst will be showcasing his complete collection of Spot Paintings which date back to 1986 in two separate galleries. Hirst explains to the L.A. Times that the series is “a battle between the machine made and man-made. From a distance they look machine made, and then on closer inspection you can see trace of the human hand, pencil lines, and [compass] holes.” Amongst the works will be a small availability to purchase with the majority of the works on showcase will be provided by private collectors making this a must see.
