Artist turned fashion designer George McCracken presented his 2010 Fall/Winter collection at John Connelly Presents Contemporary Art Gallery this past Monday. The presentation of his collection is very intimate and efficient with models standing on platforms and rotating every 2 minutes. The collection itself is very understated and American. Another interesting point is that Mr. McCracken used one female model during the presentation. “I always love a tailored piece on a woman. I think it looks amazing if it’s done right,” said McCracken. “It’s all based on textures,” revealed the designer when questioned about his theme behind his collection. “This season, they were really classic, but with some kind of twist. For example, the wool flannel has a resin coating and the cottons are blended with metal or paper.” He describes his clothes as “very masculine,” and we would have to agree.
