YSL and Atelier New York creating a capsule collection together is very much a sign of the way traditional fashion houses are approaching the market today. When I first heard of this collaboration, I was amazed that such a house would consider creating product alongside an independent retailer, but in hindsight, its in keeping with the philosophy of many of the renown luxury houses as they move into a new era and a wider market, Lanvin working with Acne is another good example. Designed by Stefano Pilati himself exlusively for Atelier New York and comprising of 17 pieces each produced entirely in Italy.
