With the Fred Perry brand now in its 60th year, there is no doubt that the legacy of the brand is inextricably linked with British subculture. Fred Perry celebrates this identity with a series of simply brilliant short documentary films, directed by legendary DJ and filmmaker Don Letts, which take an inside look at British subculture over the years. From the Teddy Boys and Mods of the 50’s and early 60’s, to the Rudeboy culture that emerged with the influx of multiculturalism in Britain, to Skinheads and Soul boys, Punks, Casuals and Ravers, Fred Perry’s laurel wreath has itself enjoyed a relationship with these subcultures, and vice versa, that has held firm for decades. It’s well worth putting an hour aside and watching the whole series.
