Givenchy have really explored the concept of ‘hybrid’ with their latest Riccardo Tisci-designed boots. The high-top sneaker-boots – showcased during Givenchy’s A/W’12 runway show – combine elements of a wingtip brogue, a leather boot and a basketball sneaker and include the Goodyear welt construction found on oxford shoes. The fashion house labels them a “basketball playground sneaker with an Italian gangster’s brogue”, which I guess is about right, but I wonder how many Italian gangsters will be stomping the court in the red version.
