The New York Magazine‘s 5th annual “Yesteryear” issue will hit new stands this week featuring eight alternative covers.

Here is a look at the cover featuring Jay Z, shot back in 1997 when the famed rapper was just beginning out and he was yet to don the Tom Ford suits that have become his signature. The Brooklyn native is sporting a Cincinnati Reds cap with a red tee, chambray button down and leather jacket — all in the in the baggy fits of yesteryear.

Other alternative covers features The Notorious B.I.G.Bob Dylan and Frank Sinatra and celebrate “A Century of Pop Music in New York” told through 100 years, 100 songs and 100 nights.
