Marni releases another strong collection with their Spring/Summer 2013 line. Following up on their impressive F/W’12 collection, the new season ushers in minimalism around geometric design, with strong lines and colour blocking boldly carrying the pieces forward. The nice thing about Marni is that you can actually envision the pieces working alongside almost any other item in your wardrobe, such is their straightforward wearability. The outerwear in this collection is particularly potent. A number of lightweight textiles are used in the construction of the S/S line, including cotton poplin, bonded crispy cotton, double jersey and technical poplin. In addition to the forthcoming season, Marni has also hooked up with Dutch artist Rop van Mierlo for a special “Wild Animals” collaborative project. The resulting designs display a number of animal motifs including a donkey, parrot, ostrich and tiger, each created exclusively for Marni and printed onto a series of T-shirts. Each of the animal inspirations are culled from van Mierlo’s book Wild Animals which won the Best Dutch Design Award in 2011.
