Matthew Hilton launches first timepiece at Margaret Howell
British furniture designer Matthew Hilton launches his first timepiece exclusively at Margaret Howell during this year’s London Design Festival. The MH01 watch will be on display and available to pre-order at theMargaret Howell London flagship on Wigmore Street from 15 – 22 September. The watch re-examines standard timepiece construction and has been in research, design and development for two years. Made in the UK, the watch is milled from a block of stainless steel and incorporates a Swiss quartz movement. Each watch is individually numbered and finished with a calf leather strap, crafted in the UK by accessories designer Bill Amberg. A refined and pared down design, the MH01 uses quality materials to create a watch with a simple and functional elegance. “I wanted simplicity and reduction to shine through, a basic but luxurious design achieved through the use of the best materials and removal of superfluous details”. Matthew Hilton. Matthew’s support of British manufacturing and his considered design approach is a reflection of the Margaret Howell aesthetic and makes for a perfect retail partnership for this special launch.
