The England football team’s home and away kits see a renewed focus on the nation’s football history and culture for 2014, courtesy of Nike. A pure white home kit pays homage to the one England donned in Mexico circa 1970, while it’s design also references the armor of English knights; a metallic three lions crest on the chest and subtle pinstripe running vertically down the shirt create a shimmering effect, noticeable when it catches light. The shorts also have a satin stripe which gives off the same bedazzling effect. The red away kit also plays with optical illusion; on its chest, the St. George’s cross can’t be seen up close, coming into focus only from a distance. Mind tricks! Both the home and away kits utilize Nike‘s latest cooling and moisture wicking fabrics and technologies, and both will be worn this summer in Brazil, with the new home kit debuting on-pitch in a friendly game against Peru at Wembley on May 30.
