The dark, masculine designs of Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School are quintessentially NYC, fusing the grittiness of Downtown with the elegance of modern fashion. They are the premiere creatives in a burgeoning NYC fashion world and thus it seems fitting — correct — that they’ve been awarded the CFDA — The Council of Fashion Designers of America — and Vogue Magazine’s 2013 Fashion Fund top honors. And though “best” is a difficult, subjective term in design, these guys are as close as they come.

Marc Alary and Juan Carlos Obando were runner-ups, while other nominees included Todd Snyder, Misha Nonoo, Tim Coppens and more.
