There is finally closure to the speculation as to who will replace John Galliano at Dior. The answer? Raf Simons. On Wednesday, the Paris fashion house will announce that the Belgian designer will take over immediately as artistic director, with his debut collection planned for July at the fall haute couture shows. After more than a year of discussions, Simons was found to be the ideal candidate for the job. Mr Simons expressed delight at the appointment in an interview on Monday, saying, “The first time I heard about the Dior position, I thought, this feels right.” We look forward immensely to seeing what Raf Simons has planned for Dior.
