The Le Mans 24 hour race has been a timeless staple in  menswear for decades, the latest brand to reference it is Japan’s Visvim with this Le Mans cardigan from their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. With all the style, glamour and masculinity associated with one of the world’s oldest motor races it is easy to see why Le Mans has been such a rich source of inspiration for designers.  Its style stakes were firmly cemented in 1971 with the release of the cult action film “Le Mans” starring perennial male style icon Steve McQueen, the white jacket with blue and red racing stripes he sports throughout the movie has been recreated numerous times.  Its this jacket which Visvim have taken as the starting point, but in typical Hiroki Nakamura style they have given it a unique twist by turning it into a striking casual cardigan.
