Happy Socks recently gave David LaChapelle complete creative freedom to direct their new film and the filmmaker really went to town on the idea. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s classic The Red Shoes, the film finds a young woman escaping her abusive mother by donning a pair of Happy Socks and dancing happily away. However, while the socks at first provide almost orgasmic relief, the dancing soon takes control and becomes overbearing and torturous. Spliced together with Crazy Eddie commercial footage, it’s every bit as insane as it sounds. The film goes hand-in-hand with LaChapelle’s super-camp photo campaign for Happy Socks which you can see here.
