Popular paint manufacturer Comex Group has recently revealed their four-day, three-night residency at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs, California. The paint company commissioned five collaborative rooms curated by Arkitip, Inc using their Frazee Paint colors. The result was fun and eye-catching interiors that are original to each room. Be sure to stop by the Palm Springs location to see the project for yourself.

In another impeccable collaboration Ace Hotel is now teaming up with The Impossible Project. TIP started in October 2008 by saving the last Polaroid production plant for instant film in the Netherlands. At present day Impossible continues to produce brand new and unique instant films for Polaroid photography enthusiasts and ensuring its place with a new generation. Going one step further, they are teaming up with Ace Hotel this September by providing a refurbished Polaroid camera and “Impossible x Ace Hotel” PX 600 Silver Shade instant black & white film in EVERY room at Ace Hotel New York.

Also, currently on view is a show entitled “24 Hours of Ace” which exhibits works of friends of the boutique hotel including  Adam Goldberg, Andie Acosta, Anne Bowerman, Araks Yeramyan, Chloe Aftel, Dave Ortiz, Devon Turnbull, Elijah Wood, Jeremy Kost, Nicole Held, Michael Nevin, Pat Sansone and Steve Olson. This will run from September 12th – October 14th.

In August 2012 there will be a follow up show that will feature fan submitted works from www.acehotel.com/impossible

Ace Hotel does not seem to be slowing up with their list of collaborations. While many are tired of sub par collaborative efforts, it is evident that Ace Hotel has a method when it comes to their partnerships, and their latest offering with Incase showcases that. The military theme, takes cues from a traditional flight jacket in terms of color palette, constructed of Martexin Original Wax textiles, satin-finish seat belt webbing straps and finished with quilted orange lining. The collection of travel accessories include a duffel bag, shoulder bag, 15 in. laptop sleeve,portfolio for Ipad 2, and snap case for the Iphone 4. The collection is available exclusively through Ace Hotel New York through September, while other Ace Hotel locations will see their shipment in October. Here is a fascinating coming together of three names of great diversity with Wings + Horns, Ace Hotel and Beams working to great effect with these boxing gloves. Alex Corporan and Ivory Serra’s ‘FULL BLEED’ skate photography book has taken a physical presence in Room # 1022 at New York’s Ace Hotel. Amongst so many of the rooms who have been decorated by numerous artists, this is the newest and probably the most fun, as the video below shows.

Converse and Ace Hotel has released a black, waxed canvas and navy toed version of their Bosey Chuck Taylor style. The staff at Ace Hotel New York have been wearing Chuck Taylors since the store opened in 2009. The All Stars will be available in a limited run of 300 pairs from March 30th, 2011.

Ace Hotel are at the centre of another impressive project this time by teaming up with renowned footwear brand Converse to reowrk the classic All Star Bosey. Limited to only 300 pieces the shoe designed by Alex Calderwood provides a great look with the combination of canvas and rubber. The design is derived from vintage wading boots that Converse created for U.S. military basic training way back in the 1940s. Ace Hotel in New York are about to work with English artist Antony Gormley, alongside Madison Square Art, to bring Gormley’s new sculpture exhibition, Event Horizon, to New York City starting from March 26th 2010. Event Horizon comprises 31 of Gormley’s life-size sculptures of himself all over the city: at Madison Square Park, Empire State Building and other locations around the Flatiron District. This is Gormley’s US public art debut and it is said to be one of this summer’s biggest deal in cultural events for New York City. The event will run through to August 15th 2010.

To celebrate with artist Antony Gormley, Ace Hotel are having a photo and video contest where you can take pictures of the sculptures in their natural habitat and send them to Ace Hotel who will post your entries up weekly on their  blog and announce winners, who are voted by by their their readers, in black & white, color, and video.

In the ongoing collaboration between Generic Surplus, Arkitip and The Ace Hotel Palm Springs, they are introducing two new colorways of their mesh pool shoe. “Inspired by the eternal summer vibe of Palm Springs, the new Red, White and Blue Ace Hotel Palm Springs Shoe is a study in relaxed, understated sophistication. While our Grey, Yellow and White shoe draws from the spirited color palette of the hotel’s pool and cabana grounds.” The cotton mesh upper and for some reason the eyelets really make this shoe for me. It is quite the handsome casual shoe for Summer time.

Ace Hotel is a boutique hotel chain that was founded in Seattle with the idea of affordable rates for the creative community. They house Opening Ceremony in their New York branch and have had numerous artist collaborations. The great thing about Ace Hotel is that every branch is supposed to represent the area it is in hence the pool shoe for their Palm Springs branch.
