Acne was founded in Stockholm in 1996 by four creatives, with a mission to create a lifestyle brand alongside helping others to better their own brands, whether that be in advertising, design or production. Acne creative worked with the likes of Nike, Honda and Coca-Cola. However, Acne quickly became renown for its own line of denim jeans.

While Acne was founded as a creative agency in 1996, it wasn’t long before its namesake clothing brand too over as its own most high profile client. Its first full collection headed up by co-founder and Creative Director Jonny Johansson launched in 1998, and its signature red stitched denim soon become in demand. The collection grew throughout the years becoming build around the philosophy of merely creating someones wardrobe. A simple and effortless philosophy which has gone on to become an influential stand point for much of the fashion industry as we head into 2010 and beyond.
Starting in 1998 with a team of just 4, Acne now continues its creative agency alongside its own products, including Acne Paper, its own Published media, and a team of over 200 people based out of Stockholm. Acne is considered an influential leader in a new era of Scandinavia’s impact on the global fashion industry.
Alongside being stocked in some of the world’s best known stores, Acne also harnesses 17 of its own stand alone boutiques around the world.
