It’s Rugby Time! Rugby World Cup that is (or at least has been for a few weeks now… )

Inspired by the official 2011 All Black jersey, which features a white collar in tribute to the 1987 jersey (the last time NZ won the cup and honed their “invincible” reputation), the Campus 80’s were created the match the jersey and capture the iconic essence of the All Blacks.

Only 100 pairs of this shoe have been made under special license from the NZRU (New Zealand Rugby Union) and all 100 pairs will be sold exclusively at Qubic Store, 160 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland.

This is the first time ever that the All Blacks logo & Silver Fern, one of the most protected sporting symbols in the world,  is featured on an adidas Originals shoe and the first time adidas Originals has collaborated with All Balcks on a shoe.

15 pairs of the shoe will come in a special, NZ made collector’s laser etched metal locker box with a custom foam insert, player’s signature plaque, a pair of NZ made merino wool socks, and a double pack of “All Heroes” trading cards.

350 edition trading cards with All Heroes characters have also been made with 35 of the 350 being special, limited edition gold-foil collector’s cards. A pack of cards will be given out for every adidas purchase during the Rugby World Cup, September through October, and the cards will also be on sale at Qubic whilst stocks last.

Remaining 85 pairs of the shoe will come in regular adidas Originals boxes, but with special printed tissue featuring artwork by Elliot F. Stewart, the NZ made merino socks, and a double pack of “All Heroes” trading cards.

For the upcoming Spring season, adidas Originals brings us a new color way for the Center. Originally released in 2010, these popular retro looking mid-top is inspired by the classic adidas Gazelle, and is now being offered in a brown suede leather with white accents, and golden branding. With the final release from their worldwide exclusive 10th Anniversary Pack, size? finds itself teaming up with adidas Originals once again to create a rather unique piece of footwear. Named after the city in England, the shoe draws its color way from the world famous Cadbury chocolate, whose factory is located in Birmingham. The shoe is to feature purple suede uppers broken up by cutting white details, a chocolate brown gum sole, and gold foil scripting out ‘Birmingham’ in cursive, and displaying the individual number of each shoe which is to be out of 500. In collaboration with the shoe, 300 special edition tanktops will also be released, and both will be available December 18, 2010.

A.039, the internal code used within adidas for adidas Originals releases its Fall/Winter 2010 look book. The menswear features a very relaxed attire, with strong sports references thrown into a somewhat modern mix. The A.039 pocket is pretty cool branding wise, slightly off centre logo- and would do anyone’s wardrobe justice.

Adidas have collaborated with France’s Fafi on a new collection for their Fall/Winter range.  Two sneakers feature in the range, the Honey Mid in white with a comic book like allover graphic and Stan Smith Velcro also in white and  adorned with her signature hand drawn characters.

The quality of collaboration sneakers vary greatly – from hideous patterns and colours to inspired reinterpretations of classic designs.  For me the most consistently successful collaborations come from the Adidas Originals Consortium series, their partnerships and concepts are always so robust and well though out, and the latest City Series is no exception.  Taking four designs named after cities and collaborating with boutiques based there, we have UNDFTD x L.A. Trainer, Sole Service x Oslo, Solebox x Berlin, Bodega x Boston.

They are expected in stores by late October.

Continuing the celebration of individuality and creativity, adidas originals has also invited five local personalities to design their own interpretation of iconic adidas Originals models – “Originals by Qubic”. They were then given access to the adidas mioriginals program, which enabled them to create their own completely customized version of iconic adidas Originals shoes. These five custom adidas Originals creations will be unveiled at the “Qubic celebrates Originals” event, alongside the launch of Kazuki Kuraishi’s Originals by Originals line.

Definitely a great occasion to be taking place in New Zealand. Stay tuned for the opening night insight.

News has broken out about an exclusive Adidas Originals House Party, which marks a huge 60 years of Soles & Stripes for the brand. As you’ll see from the video of the ‘Adidas Party Invitation’ below, there are some rather influential fashion, sport and music celebs in support including Kazuki, Mark Gonzales, David Beckham, Ilie Nastase, Katy Perry and Missy Elliott. This is the first installation of the three part video invitations.
