Dr Romanelli has definitely been very busy of late having come off the back of a project with Huf and the Dr Love collection. Now comes a collection of surgical strike vests designed exclusively for Lane Crawford in Hong Kong that epitomize the unique work of Dr Romanelli’s. Entitled “Black Winter”, the collection combines materials that date back to World War 2 the vests mixes some great fascits of vintage wear. Releasing on December 1 the vests have been supplemented with a display of artworks.

Dr Romanelli and Tetsuzo Okubo have teamed up to compiled a collection of mass proportions with a line of well constructed vests entitled Dr Love. Dr Romanelli, renown for sources some of the most audacious materials and reforming them to make some really impressive items this collections combines “vintage military garments, lush virgin leather, and an array of hippie and Americana flair”.

Dr. Romanelli, who we all know to well for his restructuring and remastering vintage materials has teamed up with Fruition Las Vegas not for the first time. Having based the collection around a “Coca-Cola” theme Dr Romanelli has executed the vests with some distinction. With this well rounded collection you just have to wonder how the amazingly hard to find fabrics were sourced, taking absolutely nothing away this is one of my favourite collections seen for winter 2008.

Dr Romanelli sets a very high standard of customizing vintage jackets, a standard I have yet to see anyone else coming within touching distance. DRx manages to source the most outrageous materials, whether it be leather, military cotton you name it. This latest project which follows Dr Romanelli’s ‘University Collection’ is available now at Nike Sportswear in Mexico features a wind breaker come leather bomber, a piece which follows up from the collection we saw at colette a few months back.

Here is a closer look at Dr Romanelli’s ‘University Of DRx’ collection we previewed earlier. With this photo shot taken on the rooftop of the amazing new hotel Palihouse in Los Angeles it really provides a classic throwback feel enhancing the theme of the collection. Photographer Elle Brosh captured the images of the select vintage customised jackets which are available only in Japan at Soph.

Dr Romanelli has mastered the art form or constructing vintage jackets using the finest materials found in the most obscure locations. In recent times DRx has been producing a line exclusive for Soph in Japan and this collection inspired by a ‘University’ definitely stands out. While of course made in limited numbers this collection includes a range of vintage college bomber jackets and some quite remarkable blazers. Take a close look below at the collection which is set to release.
