Utilising the tessellating triangular pattern that has become one of his signature details, this iPhone case from Gareth Pugh is a bold geometric design in keeping with the designer’s distinctive aesthetic.

Cut from soft premium leather, stamped with the patterned design, the case is padded making it highly tactile. The designer’s dark palette is accented superbly by the gold-coloured chain attachment, which allows the case to be worn around the neck and adds to the indulgent feel of the piece.

ABSOLUT have collaborated with leading fashion designer Gareth Pugh to celebrate the recent launch of ABSOLUT MODE EDITION, a redesign of the iconic ABSOLUT bottle, reflecting the world of fashion through twelve facets and wrapped with a band in midnight blue silk cloth with text embroidery exclusively available at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

“I wanted to create something epic for my collaboration with ABSOLUT. I feel it was important to attempt to enhance the silhouette of the iconic ABSOLUT bottle shape, as after all, shape, proportion and silhouette are the building blocks for any designer. I began by thinking of an ‘ABSOLUT Gareth Pugh’ and I decided to choose an outfit from my archive, something that I feel captures the essence of my work which I could use to ‘dress’ the ABSOLUT Mode Edition bottle and in a very abstract way” Gareth Pugh adds.

Since the early 1990s, ABSOLUT has collaborated with fashion designers such as Tom Ford and Versace, Stella McCartney and Gaultier. Pugh’s reflection of fashion is showcased through a unique handmade bottle collar which sits perfectly on ABSOLUT MODE EDITION.

To mark the collaboration, Gareth Pugh and his friends gathered at in the EWOW suite at W London – Leicester Square and were photographed by artist Matthew Stone. Guests celebrated on a rotatable vintage sofa which almost made a perfect circle, and partied in the EWOW suite. Attendees included: Cozette McCreary, Craig Lawrence, Diane Pernet, set designer Gary Card, Pam Hogg, Stephen Jones, Ben Reardon and Katie Shillingford.

The ABSOLUT MODE EDITION with Gareth Pugh bottle will be available exclusively from W London from 7th September. To secure one of these limited edition bottles, collectors must approach the W London Insider at W London – Leicester Square and quote the password ‘Reflections of Fashion’. Available whilst stocks last.

Vice Style and BlackBerry present a new series called “Visionaries” which explores established and up-and-coming individuals in the fashion industry. Each film will feature an important fashion visionary and a rising star of their choosing. This initial video features designer Gareth Pugh and fashion filmmaker Ruth Hogben. Pugh has changed the fashion landscape with his constant blurring and study of the lines between fashion and art. Hogben is obsessed with women, clothes and making films and is defining her aesthetic in the new medium of film for fashion expression. Enjoy!

Gareth Pugh’s Fall 2011 collection debut at Pitti Uomo is nothing short of a remarkable piece of art, more than your typical runway show exhibition. Exquisitely composed by Ruth Hogben, the video provokes a sense of emotion surrounding the collection rather than playing up the specific pieces within the collection, which can be seen as a negative. But, with such an amazing presentation I don’t mind giving up the money product shots for something that reads a bit more deeply.

BLACK: Masters of Black in Fashion & Costume Exhibition at Antwerp’s MoMu Museum

Here is a look into the “Masters of Black” Exhibition currently on exhibit in the MoMu (Mode Museum Antwerpen). Dedicated to the use of black in fashion and costume design, the exhibition illustrates the historical significance and the timeline of the colour black, with references to Belgian fine art paintings and sculptures from the 17th century to now.

The show is divided into 22 different sections, spanning the Middle Ages to the present. Until the late 17th century, dyeing fabric black was an arduous and expensive task, and those who could afford to wear it in the Renaissance were considered wealthy and stylish.

The exhibition also explores the textures and the potential of the color black in diverse materials, including fur, leather and lace; drawing masterpiece examples from contemporary designers who, like the city of Antwerp, have a special connection to black. Such as the renown Antwerp Six—graduates from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the early ’80s—Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dirk Bikkembergs and briefly, the reclusive Martin Margiela; as well as other Belgian designers the likes of Olivier Theyskens, Dirk Van Saene and international couture houses of Givenchy (Riccardo Tisci), Chanel and rapidly rising star Gareth Pugh.

The exhibition BLACK. Masters of Black in Fashion & Costume runs from the 25th of March till the 8th of August 2010 in MoMu, Antwerp,Belgium.

Here we have a look at English fashion designers Gareth Pugh’s Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. In his previous season his clothes were very structured with a consistent silhouette through out. This season looks more flowing and natural with long tops and draping bottoms. He uses his familiar color palette of black and grey, the grey almost provides a much more warm feeling than the black. At one point rumored to take the reins of Dior Homme it looks like he’s doing just fine on his own.

Mercedes-Benz have been a long time supporter of fashion, they have taken that relationship one step closer by working with famed fashion photographer Nick Knight to shoot the newest Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG campaign. Given a completely open brief, the english photographer teamed up with Gareth Pugh and model Julia Stegner to create a completely modern aesthetic fitting of the new vehicle, and the brands own aesthetic.

Franken-Fashion Mask Project Dazed & Confused October 2009

For their October issue, Dazed & Confused asked thirteen of the worlds top designers to create a mask using only thrown away materials from their very own studio scraps. From Gareth Pugh (October issue cover image), Bernhard Willhelm , Alexander Wang, Peter Pilotto, Walter Van Beirendonck, Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Martin Margiela all taking part in this project, Dazed Digital have extended interviews with eleven of the designers to find out more about their monster creations. Photographed by Daniel Jackson and styled by Karen Langley were also were also exhibited at the Red Bull Fashion Factory for the duration of London Fashion Week. See here for designers creations.

To celebrate Gareth Pugh’s whirlwind of a successful career, the SHOWstudio team have collectively created a video/animation for the young designer. Nick Knight, Ruth Hogben, Nicola Formichetti and Alex Box have crafted this exclusive film from the footage recorded from the set of Nick Knight’s shoot for the October issue of i-D. Descibed as an ‘escape into a madcap post-produced fantasy of metallic foil, multicoloured balloons, and swirling neon catherine wheels – a cinematic reverie that expresses all the unbridled innovation and invention both of this shoot, and of Pugh’s stratospheric career to date.’ Have a look at the video here.

Perhaps the most widely acclaimed avant-garde designer of late, Gareth Pugh, showcased his latest Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection this week. Featuring a variety of unique looks (to say the least) that takes inspiration from cyborg warriors and incorporates geometric shapes, fabric rips, and dark, sci-fi gothic aesthetics. A collection that truly pushes the envelope, although it may not be as “ready-to-wear” on planet Earth as the name might suggest, it’s definitely a perfect (and very wearable) collection for Edward Scissorhands (without the scissors).
