In keeping with this philosophy, Vibskov proudly presents his second venture into the publishing world, with the release of ‘The Panda People and Other Works.‘ Carefully crafted, using Japanese Binding techniques, this 50-page, limited edition offers a glimpse into the graphic universe of Vibskov‘s Panda People, sharing inspiration with, and offering insight into Vibskov‘s other media, including his Graphic Works art exhibtion and his Fall/ Winter 2010 runway collection.

In celebration of this release, Henrik Vibskov will give an artist talk and Q&A session at Pool Gallery in Berlin, however you will need to contact info@pool-gallery.com for all the information (date, time) and to RSVP no later than Friday, March 12th – space is very limited.

Henrik Vibskov showed the 2010 Autumn Winter Collection last night in Copenhagen which was another display of his extraodinary design talents. With some brilliant prints, this seasons palette from Henrik Vibskov is a lot of nudes against bright blues, reds and greens. As always there is some great looking footwear on offer too. Some crazy frames and triple layered hats to top off the styling creates another very distinctive look for this season which is both wearable and dynamic.

Henrik Vibskov | Graphics Works at Pool Gallery opens on February 6th 2010 through to March 6th 2010 and anything that Henrik Vibskov is involved in really makes our ears prick up here at Slamxhype. We recently shared a brief introduction to the show here, now we get a further look into the works and creations of Henrik Vibskov | Graphics Works at Pool Gallery in Berlin.

Some might call Henrik Vibskov a jack-of-all-trades, and it is true that Vibskov shows his innovative fashion designs in Paris, exhibits his artwork at established institutions such as PS1, MoMA, the Palais de Tokio and MU, and makes musical collaborations with the likes of Anders Trentemøller and Mikael Simpson. However for Vibskov, these seemingly different creative realms are not separate - it is intrinsic to his philosophy that they blend together, resulting in an all-inclusive Henrik Vibskov experience.

Vibskov consciously chooses not to isolate his interests. A modern incarnation of German composer Richard Wagner’s mid-19th century concept of ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’ or ‘universal artwork’ – an idea that was central even to the Bauhaus movement – is carried on by Vibskov, dissolving the constraints of varying disciplines and allowing a unique art form to emerge.

In Henrik Vibskov | Graphic Works, Vibskov presents a selection of his two-dimensional pieces, exhibited alongside installation and knit-works. With colorful and organic shapes that seem like strange, animated beings, Vibskov’s minimalistic “form-language” and “anarchistic lines” offer a glimpse at his own imagined universe. His experience with design, textile and pattern certainly shines through, resulting in a collection of works that, in keeping with his philosophy, intertwines a diverse selection of creative fields.

Henrik Vibskov graduated in 2001 from the prestigious Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design in London, and currently lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Issue 1 saw The New Order delve into the unique way in which Henrik Vibskov mixes fashion with art, usually in the form of not just graphic prints but large scale installations for his shows, but also for events like in our latest feature interview with the artist (Read here). February 5th see’s the Dane present a new collection of graphic works for one month at Berlin’s Pool Gallery.

How would you describe your work?

I merge all I see around me and boil them down to the ideas that frame my collections. In that sense, my design is very personal. It’s not so much about the looks or image.

What are the philosophies behind your work? What are the things that are important to you that you try to interweave into your designing?

I never do concept collections, deliberately not. I try to let it grow organically. I have been playing drums since an early age and love the feeling of free-styling in jazz music. I love to experience that feeling while designing as well. I keep everything open to the very last minute. I can only work like that.

The Urn Show is an interesting exhibition hosted by Danish retailer Forces Of Nature.  It features 15 international designers who have who have personally interpreted the simple urn, a symbol of death and reminder to live your life to the fullest.  Artist involved include Andrew Schoultz (US), Anika Lori (DK), Bigfoot (US), Eske Kath (DK), French (UK), Henrik Vibskov (DK), Hvass & Hannibal (DK), Jody Barton (UK), Knud Odde (DK), Le Fix – Benny Bee (DK), Martin de Thurah (DK), Soulland – Silas Adler (DK), Typisk Lesbisk (DK), Ufex (DK) and Zarah Voigt (DK). The proceeds from the sale of the urns goes towards local cancer charity “Drivkraeften”.

The exhibition is running until 23^rd October, and a online auction for the pieces is being held at Lauritz.com

One of Scandanavia’s finest, Henrik Vibskov presented his latest 2010 collection titled “The Solar Donkey Experiment” during Copenhagen fashion week recently in the middle of the park near Copenhagen Zoo with special guest models, three donkeys. The show unveiled both the mens and womens collection designed respectively by Vibskov himself and Maja Brix. Featuring Vibskov’s distinctively colorful decontructivist designs, showcased in the Danish designer’s artistic presentation.

In preparation to Henrik Vibskov’s showcase of his 2010 spring/summer collection entitled  “The Donkey Experiment” at Sibirien – Søndermarken in Copenhagen the designer has created this quite impressive wooden invitation. Having already compiled an interesting presentation at the Roskilde Festival this showcase will perhaps be a bit more formal and understated, although expect something unique. The exhibition is on Frday, August 7th and you can pick up tickets from the Henrik Vibskov Store in Krystalgade 6.
