Original Fake presents a 70% keychain version of the Companion Bearbrick toy by Medicom to celebrate their 5th anniversary. “Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket, 2010 – Produced by Medicom Toy, Copyright Disney” is what is written next to the new companion model from KAWS x Medicom unveiled last weekend at his KAWS exhibition at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Here is a close up look at the model of which Arrested Motion inform us Medicom is currently in the process of production and this figure is slated to be released (soon hopefully) in 2010 barring any production issues. This will be released as a package with Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket together.

Medicom Toy have worked with world renowned artist/designer Matt Black to create this distinctive collection of items for FABRICK. Matt Black provides a really interesting outlet of creativity having worked with the likes of Dior Homme and contributing to i-D magazine.

The collection consists of a number of bags and accessories created with Porter to offer a strong heritage to a unique approach. The tote bag, brief case, and schedule note cover are also accompanied by another iconic Medicom Toy piece with a Bearbrick figure. Each items is defined by the all over print which features some typically astute imagery well recognised to Matt Black’s work.

Japanese environmental organisation More Trees has once again collaborated with Medicom on a wood Bearbrick. Made from a selection of different types of wood, each section is engraved with the name of the tree on it, and the More Trees logo engraved on the back. Available from Rumors on October 28th.

French artist Andre continues his association with Medicom by creating another Kubrick figure version of his popular Mr A character.  This vibrant little figure is available in both a black/pink and pink/black colourway.

Erik Brunetti has worked alongside Medicom to create a capsule collection as part of the Japanese manufacturers F@brick label. The collection is made up of a Backpack, Waist Bag, Slippers and Pillow. Brunetti “we chose to replicate the camouflage of the Vietnam M-1 helmet cover, also referred to as the Jungle leaf pattern or the “Mitchell”. These helmets were often decorated with graffiti by soldiers depicting symbols of peace, nihilism and drug use. (This ‘Nam camo was only used for helmet covers during 1963-1970.)”

Whats important to take note of is Erik’s amazing knowledge and passion for the history behind his work, he’s a genuine influencer responsible for so many trends we’ve seen in our culture, and through this project shows again how his knowledge and passion for authenticity and meaningful story is beyond that of others in the industry.
