An iconic motif from the outstanding artist Murakami, who was our latest artist to feature on the cover of our The New Order magazine, is most predominately his Kaikai Kiki Flowers seen in both his sculptures and his paintings. The latest release of his Kaikai Kiki Flower Plush Ball has now become available at colette. Brightly colored and softly harmless, the ball comes in three different sizes 25cm, 40cm and 60cm. This will most definitely sell out in record time. Be quick!

Japanese pop art icon Takashi Murakami, recently announced plans to open a new animation studio in Hollywood by summer next year. 10 years after the opening of his Brooklyn studio “The Hiropon Factory” in 1998, he has decided that Hollywood is the place to expand his filmmaking capabilities.

Louis Vuitton recently revealed plans to give the Louis Vuitton Store on Fifth Avenue NYC a complete exterior make-over, Murakami style. The French luxury leather goods company will be erecting the vinyl installation this weekend that will cover the entire store in Murakami’s iconic Monogram Multicolore print for the house. The installation will begin going up today and will be completed on Sunday. “The idea to wrap the Fifth Avenue maison in Monogram Multicolore came about earlier this year in an effort to do something truly unique for the holiday season,” said Daniel Lalonde, president and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton North America.

“Just in September, Louis Vuitton opened the “Bag Bar” on the mezzanine level. With a concept design created by Peter Marino & Advanced Animations, furnishing features include bar stools along with a moving display of fixtures to highlight different handbag styles. Although the NYC flagship store is not the only LV location to have the Bag Bar installation, the 5th avenue location is the only location to have a “moving” installation. The new Bag Bar section of the 5th Ave flagship store also features Richard Prince Art and display panels created by artist Mary Kuzma along with Peter Marino.” – CtotheJL

Certainly interesting to see work from the creative industry exhibited on such a scale in a retail context.
