Well known street artist Nick Walker has recently hit Williamsburg on the corner of Roebling & Metropolitan with another impressive mural. This “legal” project location was graciously provided by our friends at Brooklyn Street Art to work on this piece entitled “Amerikarma” that features an American flag with bullet holes as rather than stars with a subtle addition of Mickey Mouse.

“Get Rich Quick!” at Carmichael Gallery

Hollywood’s Carmichael Gallery played host to a group show of epic proportions last night. The list of artists showing is a who’s who of contemporary art. Adam Neate, Antony Micallef, Banksy, Barry McGee, Bast, D*face, Dalek, David Choe,David Choong Lee, Faile, Herbert Baglione, Ian Francis, Kaws, Nick Walker, Paul Insect, Shepard Fairey, Sixeart, Skullphone, Space Invader, Swoon, Will Barras. Arrested Motion put it best “ Visiting the gallery was like seeing a modern day museum retrospective of the last five years in urban art. Truly amazing.”

The show lasts till May 28th and can’t be missed!

Nick Walker “A Sequence of Events” at Black Rat Press

Bristol vandal Nick Walker returns to Black Rat Press in London on May 28th to unveil his latest show “A Sequence of Events.” If Walker’s past shows are any indication of what we can expect, fans have a nice treat in store for them. With creative pieces that consistently hold their own against work from that other relatively famous artist from Bristol, AM is looking forward to seeing what Walker dreams up this time.

The opening will also mark the release and signing for Walker’s new book, a retrospective examining the progression of his work over the past ten years until now, including some new imagery that will most likely be part of the show. Mark your calendars.

Nick Walker Hits the Streets of Bristol

Infamous UK stencil street artist Nick Walker has hit the streets once again this time round in Bristol with a re-creation of a piece he did earlier at the NuArt festival in Norway, titled “The Coat of Arms” this one is situated on the side of Vicenzo’s Pizza on Park Street. While there has been a lot of media attention on Banksy recently following the Lyon & Turnbull auction, It is definitely nice to see work from another influential UK graffiti artist.

As a forerunner of the British graffiti phenomenon, Nick Walker emerged from the infamous and ground-breaking Bristol art and graffiti scene of the early 1980s, and have over the years created work that has become a blueprint for hundreds of burgeoning artists in the graffiti scene. His work has been embraced by the mass media including the music, advertising and film industries. With commissions as prestigious as the major motion pictures Judge Dredd and Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes wide shut. Take a look at the images below.

Norway’s Nuart exhibition kicked off last week, running through to October 5th. Nuart plays host this year to the likes of Blek Le Rat, DFace, and Nick Walker amongst others. Keep up to date at the Nuart website. We just discovered this new piece by Nick Walker shown at Nuart (after the jump).
