I remember the release of this shoe like it was yesterday, sometimes its pretty scary to imagine a shoe being released as a retro when you can still remember its original release, but the fact of the matter is this is a great chance to get a new pair of one of the most iconic pieces of ACG history. Nicknamed the “potato shoe,” an outcome of the original colorway culminating with the unique silhouette has made another welcome return. This time featuring a Thinsulate lining for supreme comfort, the breathable inner providing great warmth this along with the great charcoal upper makes for a great piece.

Nike Air Blazer ACG Mid

This latest hybrid silhouette from Nike Sportswear has quickly caught on, combining elements of ACG and primarily using the Blazer as a base. Having seen this piece of footwear in the Pendelton collaboration now comes a far more traditional looking colorway featuring a buttery suede upper along with the black and red highlights I am certain this will become a favourite as the ongoing influence of the outdoors on the street is adamant.

Nike ACG 20th Anniversary Backpacks

If you grew up in the same era I did, ACG probably had a huge impact on you appreciation of this culture in which we find ourselves. It certainly did for me, backpacks, waistpacks, shoes, down jackets and fleece were all pretty heavily stocked by me throughout the 90’s. This year see’s the 20th anniversary of Nike’s outdoor and functional sub brand, we’ve seen a number of great items and a really cool ad campaign, now we see these anniversary specific backpacks. Boogie For Nike ACG

Nike ACG has been one of the more vocal aspects of Nike for almost 20 years now as the famed sportswear label continue to break boundaries with the All Condition Gear. This latest advertising campaign really personifies the direction the sub label takes in street culture with reknown photographer Boogie capturing the images.

Nike ACG Kimono Jacket

On an inspirational trip to Tokyo, one of the centers of street culture, Nike ACG’s Global Design Director Stewart Horner came accross a tiny little shop specializing in traditional Japanese fabrics, from 400yr old indigo dyed denim to incredibly intricate hand cut stencils and beautiful silk kimono. Blown away by the craftsmanship and detail, Horner was determined to incorporate this into his design. The result? The Nike ACG kimono jacket. A technical interpretation of the most prestigious Japanese apparel icon

, the print featured on the jacket was made from a 150 year old hand cut paper stencil, printed on a technical interpretation of a traditional kimono fabric with a 20,000mm waterproof breathable 3-layer Nike Storm Fit laminate.

When the snow industries are saturated with heavy and loud prints, Horner takes the total opposite direction and lets the simplicity of the jacket speak for itself. The purple color of the inner layer, representing nobility and high class, has a mix of rich Japanese heritage and premium flair. The iPod ‘holster pocket’ was designed for easy access, and located in a protected location under the wearer’s arm, after extensive ACG athlete feedback from the likes of Andreas Hatveit. The decision was made to design a pocket that allowed the wearer to cross over the body and underneath the arm, to access their music device rather than go straight in the side. This shelters their valuable hardware from impacts and feels more intuitive. Finally, the original 1989 triangle logo references the heritage of Nike ACG. Take a look at the images below.

Nike ACG Urban Night Pack

Here are three of my more favourite silhouettes from Nike’s ACG archive, the Air Revaderchi, Air Wildwood and Terra Humara. Entitled the Nike ACG Urban Night Pack the sneakers have been provided with an interesting mix of colors with black, purple, pink and blue definitely catching the eye. Releasing on October 4 at Atmos the collection is completed with the Windrunner and a couple of beanies.

Nike ACG x Pendelton Collection

The team over at Sneaker Freaker had an opportunity to discsuss the upcoming collaboration with Nike ACG and Pendelton that includes an ACG Blazer for men, a Valenka Boot for women, a backpack, blanket, and jacket. All the items in the pack have a very outdoorsy feel like apparel and items you would come across in Colorado mountain resort towns. There is obvious Native American inspiration with the patterns features on the offerings from the two companies. Pendelton provided the woolen material used for this special project, and it was selected for its ability to keep anything draped in the fabric warm and toasty.
