Nike Sportswear continues their inflow of outerwear pieces for this season with the DWR Twill Classic jacket. This lightweight offering has some nice functional qualities such as water and wind resistance, while remaining clean and simple in the looks department. Both colors offered also feature some nice detailing such as the contrasting zippers and taped seals outlining the chest pocket.

Released to celebrate the launch of the new Nike Sportswear by Head Porter Plus retail space in Tokyo is this collaboration varsity jacket from NSW and Fragment Design. Varsity jackets have made something of a come back lately, and one of our favourites from the recent crop came from Nike’s high end NSW range. It’s always hard to improve upon a classic, but of course Hiroshi Fujiwara is the man to improve on this modern classic recreating it in an all black colourway, with a wool body and a shawl collar.

Nike Sportswear Cheyenne 2000 Backpack

NSW has just released a new technical backpack named the ‘Cheyenne 2000′. Made from wet look black waterproof fabric which looks to be laser cut. Nike Sportswear Blazer Mid Supreme TZ

Nike Sportswear will soon be releasing the reinterpretation of their iconic Blazer basketball shoe. First introduced in 1973, the Nike Blazer was the first of it’s kind, lighter weight in comparison the chunky models offered at the time, fine grain leather, and enhanced grip and foot support. Although the classic silhouette remains unchanged 36 years later, Nike Sportswear has recreated the Blazer that recaptures it’s former glory, adding new features such as the peforated outline of the Nike swoosh replacing the former stitched-on insignia, metallic gold embroidering on the heel, and an embossed leather tag on the tongue. Available in a subtle grey-white color.

Tier Zero release.

Cinema Tuesdays at The Montalbán Presents: Christmas on Mars

One of my favorite groups, The Flaming Lips, will be presenting their movie, Christmas on Mars, which took about seven years to make. All that time and effort has culminated into this movie which directed by frontman Wayne Coyne and it will star all the members of the band. In addition to the band starring, there are also appearances by Fred Armisen of Saturday Night Live and Adam Goldberg. The movie is a science fiction film and it is the directorial debut by Coyne. Nike Vintage Flywire Cortez

Nike Sportswear has created a special Innovation to Innovation pack to coincide with the festival of music hitting Liverpool in November. The Innovation to Innovation pack features Nike Sportswear’s feted Icon, the Cortez. The pack comprises of the one vintage and one Flywire Cortez both inspired by Liverpool’s rich history of musical heritage.

The Vintage Cortez shoe’s inspiration is taken from the infamous live music venue on Mathew Street which became famous back in the 1960s when four young local lads embarked on a journey that would see them become the most famous and loved band in history. The Matthew Street detailing on the tongue and the number 274, signifying the amount of times four lads from Liverpool who shook the world played on venue, sit atop one of Nike’s great icons. Nike Sportswear designers took inspiration from the understated colour and detailing of one of Liverpool’s most celebrated and loved musical stories.

Like Sport, the Music industry is at its best when it innovates. Although Matthew Street still pulls in a plethora of music fans, in recent times clubs on Seel Street have become spiritual homes for the Liverpool music scene. This area is what inspired the Nike design team to create the Flywire Cortez for the Innovation to Innovation pack. Taking the Flywire technology that Nike developed for its athletes in Beijing, Nike has taken the iconic Cortez shoe and remastered the classic to reflect the moving field of sports technology, inspired by Liverpool’s current thriving music scene.

The Innovation to Innovation pack will be available in Liverpool only with a run of 72 pairs on sale from Saturday November 6th.

Nike Sportswear Terminator High

Here is another look at this impressive release from Nike Sportwear, having seen the Fragment x NSW Tennis Classics not too long ago, the latest release is a significantly improved version of the Classic Terminator High that includes some neat features that are somewhat more synonymous with hiking boots than sneakers, including D-rings for the laces, added padding and just an improvement in the contruction all round. Available in a subtle black upper on a white sole with a variation of blue of grain colored laces. Given that these are from Nike Sportwear, you can expect the quality of these to be up there with the best. And I have to admit since seeing these initially in the Nike Sportwear catalogue, it is perhaps one of the items that I have anticipated the most out of the entire collection. Loopwheeler x Nike Sportswear Daypack

Loopwheeler has updated their site with images and information pertaining to this interesting piece created with Nike Sportswear. I was invited to 21 Mercer recently for a preview of some upcoming goods, and I noticed this sitting inside the store atop the bleachers that are located on the main floor. I had inquired about this piece, as it is something that definitely sticks out being that it comprises largely of Loopwheeler fleece.

I have the Cheyenne backpack from NSW and I think the contruction and functionality of it is top-notch, and this one is also of the same high-quality. This would make a great pickup for anyone in the market for such a daypack/backpack.

Nike Sportswear at The Montalbán will be having another interesting edition of Cinema Tuesdays with a screening of Synecdoche, New York. The movies stars a couple of my favorite actors in Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener, so I am most definitely looking forward to this one. Theater director Caden Cotard (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is mounting a new play. His life catering to suburban blue-hairs at the local regional theater in Schenectady, New York is looking bleak. His wife Adele (Catherine Keener) has left him to pursue her painting in Berlin, taking their young daughter Olive (Sadie Goldstein) with her. His therapist, Madeleine Gravis (Hope Davis), is better at plugging her best-seller than she is at counseling him. A new relationship with the alluringly candid Hazel (Samantha Morton) has prematurely run aground. And a mysterious condition is systematically shutting down each of his autonomic functions, one by one.

We recently previewed the Nike Sportswear Loopwheeler collection here a few weeks back, and now here is a glimpse of what will soon be releasing for Winter at The Montalbán in Hollywood and 21 Mercer in SoHo New York. As you can see inside, the Nike Windrunner is the newest garment to receive the special Loopwheeler treatment with their premium fleece. Loopwheeler has already been seen on the Athletics West 1977 (AW77) half-zips, full-zips, crewnecks and a few tees, so seeing it make its way down the line of NSW pieces is something exciting. Nike Sportswear at The Montalbán “Let the Right One In” Screening

Here is a review written by Yevgeniy Shukhman of the recent screening of “Let the Right One In” over at Cinema Tuesdays at The Montalbán in Hollywood:

The usual Nike Sportswear pre-screening event was a blast with free popcorn, candy, appetizers and drinks provided by Belvedere Vodka. The lobby of the theatre was filled with haunting smog and purple lights as well as great tunes courtesy of beautiful DJ Valida, and the crowd was really feeling the spooky atmosphere.

“Let The Right One In” is the tale of a bullied 12-year old boy who befriends a mysterious girl who happens to be a vampire. Well crafted and set in a small, snowy world with just a few set pieces, the story is filled with some rather disturbing, bone-chilling events and gore, as well as a very touching story of friendship and love.

Directed by Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson, “Let The Right One In” opens at Laemmle’s Sunset 5 in Los Angeles and Angelika Film Center in New York on October 24th. Be sure to check back with us for a full review of the film from a very special guest in the next few days.
