Well, the title is not entirely accurate as we gave you a look at the Will Barras Oakley Artist Series Montefrio sunglass here a little while ago, but, I just happened to be at Oakley Headquarters today for a meeting and a good friend there was kind enough to give me this sample pair of the sunglasses. These turned out great to say the least and I think it is safe to say that this is my favorite Artist Series edition to date. As you can see here, all the art work on the box and sunglasses comes courtesy of Barras and as an added bonus, a bandana featuring the same work can be found inside of the box — it even served as the backdrop for these images that I took. Another special treat will be thrown in the mix for the actual release, which will be in January of 2009. Be on the lookout for that as the time draws near, but in the meanwhile, check the images after the jump. Read the full story

Andrew Petterson has handpainted 50 pairs of Oakley Frogskins that will be released soon to a very small handful of retailers. I have seen all 50 of them first hand, I must say that Petterson did an extremely impressive job with them. Each pair is unique and they will come in all black packaging to be sold in sort of a “grab-bag-like” philophy in which the consumer will not know what pair he or she is receiving. Also, retailers are urged not to divulge the contents of each package. Only 25 shops were selected to carry these, with 2 pairs being allocated to each location. Here are some images of some of the sunglasses, with more to follow.

Oakley has recruited Andrew Petterson to create 50 hand painted Frogskins as an extension of their Artist Series program. We do not have images at the moment, and it is for a very good reason. This project is special in a sense that all 50 are unique and numbered by the artist and to celebrate that, Oakley will be teaming up with BLENDS in Costa Mesa to host an event in which all 50 will be present and accounted for, and this will be the only time that all of them will be available for viewing before being allocated to the 25 stores lucky enough to receive them. The sunglasses will be packaged in all black, including the protective bag that accompanies all Frogskins, to maintain the mystery of what one will be getting for their purchase. The release is slated for October, with the event taking place at the end of September. We will keep you posted on this special release and the event that will commemorate the sunglasses as the time draws near.
