SOPH is a Japanese designer label founded by Hirofumi Kiyonaga in 1998, holding the idea of using the minimal design to look for the sophisticated apparel in a daily basis. SOPH’s aim to provide multi-usage and high-tech materials for customers has developed the brand to be one of the most acclaimed Japanese labels surviving between purely streetwear brand like A Bathing Ape and high-end scale collection like Issey Miyake. With its outstanding Japanese aesthetic workmanship, SOPH is able to deliver function-oriented casual clothes, yet comfortable and innovative, through working closely with different artists and musicians as well as collaboration projects. SOPH also acts as a seedbed for the brand FCRB and Uniform Experiment that have been operating under the name of Hirofumi Kiyonaga, Hiroshi Fujiwara, and Nike together.
SOPH stays a very strict distribution policy about the availability of its product. Products are often produced in limited quantities while exclusively distributing within Japan and SOPH dealers domestically as well as internationally. The products that are not sold within the first two weeks of their release are destroyed, not made available online or in any other manner. Their official retailers are mostly in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Italy, France, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, and New Zealand.
