We at Slamxhype are huge fans of menswear premium boutique Surrender, located in Singapore. We have seen Surrender grow from offering some of the most well known brands in street wear in their early days, to currently housing some of the highest quality, most eclectic brands in today’s contemporary menswear from sneakers to suits. In this edition of “5 Mins With…” we had the pleasure of catching up with co-founder of Surrender, Earn Chen, to see what he has been up to these days.

Earn Chen / I have quite a lot to name. But I don’t buy commercial art. What’s important to me are art given or sold to me by my friends. It means a lot more to me and they tell a better story.

Earn Chen / I’m working on the renewal of the store, our website and upcoming stores. Nothing gives me more pleasure than working with my team and witnessing the progress. Leisurely, I’m working on the restoration of my 1965 Mercedes Benz 230 SL Pagoda.

Thom Browne Eyewear Launch at Surrender

Thom Browne’s Eyewear line with DITA has been making it rounds around the globe and tomorrow it will be debuting at Surrender. The collection takes inspiration from architects, politicians, and professors from the Post War Era. If you have seen the specs it is a very powerful looking collection. On Thursday, the Singapore retailer will be holding the Press Only event and the day after will be VIP and Friends.

Gitman Bros has provided well known Singapore retailer with a refined canvas to create a collection of shirts. Consisting of three pieces, the first a basic piece defined by the rounded color then there is a vibrant check on a white background and completing the collection is a typically astute b.d. oxford shirt.

Here is a look inside the new Surrender store having recently relocated to Raffles Hotel Arcade. As a leading retailer in Singapore, the ambience of the new store is fitting to the selection of labels with a quite impressive rustic feel. Including labels like Visvim, WTAPS, Neighborhood, Thom Browne, Head Porter, Band of Outsiders amongst other this makes for a must check if ever in the area.

Medicom Toy x Surrender Bearbrick

Medicom Toy have teamed up with Surrender for their latest Bearbrick release. The two have come together on two designs with the “putting sex back into Be@rbrick” theme something unique. One version is a predominately black piece of vinyl and the other a more erotic design that release today at the Surrender Store.

Surrender have just released their tee shirt collaboration with Ed Banger Records named ‘Dance And Prance’. An interesting collaboration between two major record companies who both cater for different genres within the industry. Could this be the beginnings of a distinctive change within the music world as we know it? Well, if a cool tee is all we get for now, we are Ok with that.

James Lavelle’s Surrender have teamed up with Medicom to release 100% and 200% Bearbricks, featuring the skull design as seen on this season popular hoodie print. The impressive adaption of the popular skull design by Alan Forbes, blends well with the simple black and white make up of the figure. A must have for Surrender, Lavelle or UNKLE fans.

Now we can bring you more news from the Surrender Spring collection set to release in time for Christmas. Surrender Re-Opened

As one of Singapore’s finest retails, Surrender have long offered a select list of names such as Head Porter, Neighborhood, Clot, Visvim, Dita Legends and Hysteric Glamour. Now they have re-opened the store with a complete new fit out, culminating in a very dark theme while staying very clean. The anticipation was completed with the addition of WTAPS to the list of labels available.
