Japanese publication Men’s Non-No have compiled a great editiorial for the Undercover Spring/Summer 2012 Collection with this piece entitled “Openstrings.” Layering the lighter weight pieces is key to the aesthetic with a combination of slimmer and wider silhouettes also a vocal point of the more subdued pallet of colors used. While the outcome is evident of a more conceptual approach from Jun Takahashi, as his functional focus is paid to his Gakuysou collection with Nike.

Here is a closer look at the Undercover Spring/Summer “openstrings” 2012 Collection with a small installation set up at the DOUBLEDUTCH Studio in Nagoya. Working together with the team from the Undercover Nagoya store those who stopped by could get a close look at the collection that will release in the new year. Completing the installation was a styled lookbook by Jun Takahashi along with a  video showcasing the of a recent runway show from Tokyo Fashion Night Out.

The Undercover website is live and quite impressive, with a deceptive design enhanced by the backdrop which changes from anything like homepages of  wikipedia to myspace. One of the first things included in teh new website is a look at the Undercover Spring/Summer 2012 Collection, another hugely impressive installation from designer Jun Takahashi. The look is again subdued and dark, while inspiration comes from a number of places as we see touches of nomadic design, grunge and punk, outdoor wear and even a preppy look is included. Each garment is defined by an amazing attention to detail with layering, or the effect of layering key to this facet.
