2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the Vans Half Cab. In celebration of this occasion, Vans will be dropping one new and exclusive limited edition 20th Anniversary Half Cab colorway every month throughout the course of the year. Beginning in January, Vans and Supreme take us back to where it all started with a limited 20 pairs worldwide of hand-cut and duct-taped Vans Caballero high tops. Each pair individually cut, numbered and signed by Cab himself. The shoes are available exclusively at select Supreme Stores worldwide while supplies last.

Vans’ Syndicate projects are limited runs available exclusively at specialty independent skateboard shops that aim to progress skate culture by embracing the diverse history of ideas, attitudes and influences that make up our unique lifestyle.  Since 2005, Vans designers and our collaborators have celebrated skate’s bold legacy of innovation through rebellious expression.

For Spring 2012, Syndicate presents a project from old pals Anthony Van Engelen and Jason Dill.  Teaming up on a three-style pack, the Alien Workshop-bred pros chose to update two classic Vans silhouettes, the Authentic Pro “S” and the Old Skool ’92 Pro “S”, as well as one of Anthony’s all-time favorites, the AV Sk8-Low “S”.

Each style boasts cream of the crop leathers including thick gauge dress shoe leather uppers and pigskin linings. The Authentic Pro “S” blends in faux snakeskin, while the Old Skool ’92 Pro “S” sports a faux cheetah fur upper. The AV Sk8-Low “S” plays it straight with the sleek black leather upper, but with the faux snakeskin and cheetah fur lining the inside.

All three pairs come complete with a crystal rubber outsole tread and project specific Syndicate trim and packaging.  Also look for a cool scorpion design on the footbed of the shoes, representing the Scorpio symbol, AVE and Dill’s sign.

Here is a look at a new piece from the Vans OTW spring 2012 collection with the casual sneaker/formal shoe hybrid, the Pritchard, ships in four new colorways this season. The Pritchard represents a new movement in the sneaker world – the versatility and sophisticaiton that the younger generation is demanding. A shoe that feels like and skates like a sneaker, yet has enough refinement to be worn out for an evening on the town. The Pritchard truly embodies his all-day-and-night adaptability. The Bedford is a staple silhouette in the Vans OTW Collection and hits the Spring  2012 with three new colorways – red canvas, black heavy canvas and antique white satin suede. The Bedford blends our heritage-based mid-top look with modern slim profile designs to give the skate market a look yet to be seen. Clean cap-toe design, tonal branding and premium finishing materials complete the package. The Spring 2012 shipment of the Bedford arrives at OTW retailers this montth.

The Vans Vault line provides a strong canvas for their most recent collaborators, sibling duo Chris and Kirk Bray aka Billykirk. Consisting of a Sk8-Hi LX and the Derby LX the pair have applied premium materials to each piece with the Sk8-Hi highlighted by the combination of suede and nubuck while the Derby utilizes suede and waxed canvas.

Vans co-founder James Van Doren, passed away early last month having set a strong precedent by founding the iconic label back in 1966. Along with his brother Paul, they enjoyed great success initially creating samples for their store in Anaheim during the 60’s with the quality deck shoe paving the way for future that catered for a diverse clientele. The legacy in which he leaves behind him will forever be remembered as we continue to see the label and evolve, James Van Doren will be remembered fondly.

Vans and DQM have teamed up to great effect on a line that supplements The Vans DQM General store in New York. This inaugural installation consists of three variations on three timeless Vans models, the Chukka Decon, Midskool and Era. Each piece is highlighted by the military green, vegetable tan and oxblood premium leather uppers that are supplemented by a washed canvas camouflage lining. Limited to only 96 pieces, the finishing touches are made with the Vans DQM General logo on the tongue, heel tab as well as the insole with each pair will be individually numbered.

Vans have provided another formidable canvas for Japanese retailer Beauty & Youth to create something unique with this corduroy fabric applied to the Authentic silhouette. Featuring burgundy, brown and black colorways the first has tonal laces and a gum sole while the latter feature contrasting white soles and laces. Vans OTW and Mr. Cartoon proudly present the Art of Lettering, a limited edition book featuring Cartoon’s personal photography, published by Eric Elms/And Press.  The first in a series of forthcoming projects from Vans OTW advocates including Cartoon, Elms, Dimitri Coste and The Blackouts, the book was created in conjunction with Mr. Cartoons “Art of Lettering” seminar held in Los Angeles this summer.  The seminar featured Cartoon discussing how lettering has impacted his life – from graffiti art to vintage sign painting and modern day low rider script as well as illustration airbrushing and his concepts of tattooing.  The limited run of 818 books are available at select OTW retailers worldwide.
