Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci has been a hot commodity recently with his talks of succeeding Galliano at Dior as well as continuing to create for Givenchy, yet the exuberant designer has manage time to curate the upcoming issue of Visionaire. Style.com has obtained exclusive information about the soon to be released issue 60th issue. Religion is explored through commissioned works from a contributors list that includes Karl Lagerfield, Helmut Lang, Paolo Canevari as well as a never before published piece from photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. I’m not sure it was done in angst but to further fuel the talks of his departure for Dior, Tisci stipulated that Givenchy shouldn’t be given any credits, an interesting statement to make. This should be a standout issue along the lines of Visionaire’s Alexander Mcqueen issue.

The always visually extravagant Visionaire Magazine is dedicating their next issue 58 “Spirit” to late designer Lee Alexander McQueen. They are a multi format magazine so it will be interesting to see how they decide to present this issue which releases in June. Other contributing artists include Lady Gaga, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Meisel, David Sims, Mario Testino, Sean Ellis, Nick Knight, Sebastian Faena and others..

The Visionaire 2010, which is Number 57 is now available in stores. This issue is as always something special and collectable. 52 important figures played the role of curator for this new edition, each then selected 7 artists making a total of 365 artists, and one image per artist. These 365 images were then grouped into a desktop calendar with Smart, with 1 photo for each day of the year. The list of participants in this project would be too long to give, so just to name a few: Klaus Biesenbach (MoMA), Francesco Bonami (Whitney Biennial 2010), Massimiliano Gioni (New Museum), John Baldessari, Louise Bourgeois Maurizio Cattelan, Ugo Rondinone, Pharrell Williams, Mario Testino, Herzog & de Meuron, Natalie Portman, Tilda Swinton, Raf Simons, Marc Jacobs, Bruce Nauman, Gabriel Orozco, Olafur Eliasson, Steve McQueen, Kaws, Agathe Snow, Douglas Gordon… and so many others!

We showed you guys a brief look at the latest issue of the Visionaire here not too long ago, With only 4,000 numbered copies worldwide, this pop-up issue includes the work of artists like Mario Testino, Sophie Calle, and Alasdair McLellan. Housed in a dark purple cloth-covered case with a magnetic closure and engraved metal plaque, this edition astonishes viewers with movable images, three-dimensional scenes and surprise reveals.
