Following the opening of GIP-STORE in Tokyo late last year, I thought it would be a good idea to catch up with founder of the store and WTAPS and 40% AGAINST THE RIGHTS brands Tetsu Nishiyama on POST NEW. Continuing to make a positive impact in the scene in Tokyo with a refined balance that draws together elements from punk to militia to an ironic take on the media scene. Having been a strong influence with the previous retail space, blackflag, I asked the question about the decision to change.

WTAPS have reworked another classic military piece by taking the M-43 jacket as the canvas and applying there critique in defining fashion. Featuring a corduroy construction, the jacket aptly features shearling lining with further detailing like zip pockets, ribbed cuffs, a stand-up collar, storm flap and an interesting crossbone scratch print on the reverse completing the design.

The latest installation from the WTAPS Sneak Collection consists of two pieces, a jungle jacket and jungle trousers. Each piece is defined by the damaged finish which provides a rustic look to the off white garments that were both standard issue items during the Vietnam War. Defined by the approach of the Japanese label, the jacket features a WTAPS tag above the pocket and a cross bone on the reverse while the trousers features a patch work finish while all the detailing completes a great release.
