Online retailer oki-ni managed to get backstage at POLARIS, the FW14 presentation of menswear designer Christopher Raeburn. As its name suggests, POLARIS is about creating layers and texture for battle against the elements, referencing cold-weather military gear to create pieces that are both technically and aesthetically sound. If you think the collection looks warm, that’s because it is — Raeburn is taking cozy boy steez to a whole new level, creating jackets from reclaimed German military sleeping bags, British Millerian, waxed cotton and weatherproof rubberized wool. Look at that coat. It’s like the kid skinned the abominable snowman.
Also featured for the FW14 season is a range of knitwear in collaboration with The Woolmark Company, while other collabs saw the designer team up with Porter and Timberland on accessories and footwear, respectively. We’re looking forward to this collection dropping later this year. In the meantime, have a look through oki-ni’s backstage photo essay above.
