About Jose Parla

Settled indefinitely in New York, Parla hailed from Miami, Florida where he attended the New World School of the Arts and also studied in Georgia at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Parla’s paint work is known to be unique from creating visual stories from his experiences in various cities he has visited. These paintings are usually narrated and expressed through Parla’s perspective. He invites his viewers to see what he sees through his eyes. Parla traveled the world to seek inspiration and finally settled in New York in the 90’s.

Parla is not only known as a painter but a modern day storyteller who re-creates stories through his intricate and calligraphic artwork. Like many well known artists, Parla has exhibited his work all around the world. This innovative artist has exhibited his work at galleries that were curated by the likes of world famous artists such as Takashi Murakami. Parla attributes his work as being “segmented realities”.
