You maybe be straight-haired or curly/wavy haired, short haired or long haired, thick or thin haired, voluminous or beautiful haired. But that doesn’t stop all of us from wanting the same thing – smooth, shiny, soft, bouncy and healthy hair. And it’s not that we don’t try. We purchase bombard our hair with expensive products, shampoos, conditioners, serums, certain oils, and whatnot. All these things give us the result of the day, but come next morning we’re back to square one.

Instead of just putting our hair through whatever products the commercials say your hair needs, let’s just stick to the basics and do that right, i.e., shampooing. You won’t even need half the things your favorite celebrities are trying to sell you, you should be aware of the right way to wash hair.

Here is the right way to wash hair

1. Don’t Overwash

right way to wash hair

Washing your hair is important as your hair goes through so much dirt and pollution. But let’s keep the shampoo day just once or twice a week, so you don’t end up washing off all the natural oils that your scalp releases.

2. Fight Dryness

If your hair is becoming dry, it’s because it is not producing enough oils. Try changing your shampoo according to your needs and do not hesitate from consulting a doctor.

3. Nice And Gentle

While shampooing your hair, instead if scrubbing your scalp, practice messaging it with gentle round strokes. That will prevent damage and at the same time facilitate the blood flow.

4. Avoid Hot Water

Many of us make this mistake because all of us love our hot showers. They are peaceful and relaxing and help get rid of soreness. But it causes dryness and dandruff on your scalp. Hair must always be washed with cold or luke-warm water.

5. Stick To The Status Quo

If you have found the shampoo that you like as it suits your hair, try to stick to it. New products do seem tempting, we know, but you don’t know if it will, in fact, suit your hair or not.

6. Less Is More

Just take a coin size amount of shampoo. That is sufficient for a one time wash. Too much product isn’t good for your hair.

7. Press, Don’t Rub

Wet hair is more fragile and prone to damage. So, make it a habit to never rub them aggressively with your towel despite how desperately you need them to dry quickly. Just press the towel over wet hair to take out the moisture.

8. Comb, Don’t Brush

Brushing wet hair leads to breakage, especially if you have thin hair. Use a wide-tooth comb whenever to comb wet hair, always.

9. Let The Scalp Relax

Don’t shampoo the scalp always and begin with nape as more often than not, it doesn’t get that dirty as opposed to the rest of your hair.

10. Efficient Application

Apply shampoo when your hair is thoroughly soaked. This helps the lesser amount of shampoo to be applied all over the hair more efficiently. This is better than using lots of product to cover the whole area.

11. Condition It Nice

Never condition your roots, as it will make them greasy quickly and you’ll feel the need to rewash them in a couple of days. Shampoo the roots and condition the hands and lower half of your hair.
