It’s a belief which still holds true, that “it’s still magic even if you know how it’s done.” So here is a list of a few mind-boggling tricks to become a quick favorite amongst your peers.
PRE-REQUISITE- a spoon.
This one’s an age-old trick that you might have come across a few times. It appears quite complicated, but the trick is just in the way you hold the spoon. You press down on the spoon while moving your hand along the stick of the spoon, which gives the illusion of the spoon bending. It takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes pretty easy to master and perform in front of everybody.
2. Geometrical Toothpick
Not only this trick is easy to pull off, but it is also a definite winner. Your friends and family will be awestruck taking you to be no less than a magician.
PREREQUISITE-5 wooden toothpicks, a straw, and water.
Turn a ten edge star made of toothpicks into a five-edge star without even touching a single one. Well, no one is going to believe you at first but here is when you challenge them and put your masterly skills to use.
Start by breaking the toothpicks but not half and a half, do it in such a way that you break it only a few measures down from the end. Make sure not to break it into two, instead make a bend in it so that it is still attached. Arrange it in a star shape with the open edges towards the outside and the bent centers on the inside.
Now, take a little jar of water and with the help of a straw, put a few drops right in the middle of your ten-point star. The toothpicks will arrange itself because of the water moving outwards and the arrangement will begin to resemble a five-pointed star.
This is another very cool trick that is as easy to perform like any other. By holding a simple pencil pinned down to the eraser and shaking it at just the right speed, it appears to become made of flexible rubber instead of wood. This one doesn’t take any special skill, just a lot of practice to combine the speed and movement correctly.
4. Crayon colors trick
To learn this trick, you don’t need to be at the Hogwarts. Haha, it’s a simple one again. Pick a crayon from a box and guess the color with your immense mind-reading powers!
Props: A small box of crayons.
a. Stand with your back to the audience. Put your hands behind your back and prompt one of the audience members to pick a color out of the box and place it into your hands, all done while your hands are at the back.
b. Once you have it in your fingers, turn to face the person with your hands concealed behind you. While you’re talking about the magic, scrape the crayon with your right thumbnail, so some wax color gets stuck between your finger and the nail.
c. Keeping the crayon behind your back in your left hand, pretend to transfer her thoughts to your own with your right hand. Wave your hand in front of her face, repeating, “I’m reading your mind” and “transferring your thoughts to my mind.”
d. As you’re waving your hand in front of her eyes, sneak a glimpse of the color under your thumbnail.
e. And voila, you know the answer and the trick are done. Repeat the response to the person with a few dramatic magic words.
5. Coin Trick
Show a glass, upside down, and a 1 rupee coin on a sheet of colored paper.
Now put a handkerchief on the glass and move it over.
Now pull the handkerchief off and Abracadabra! The coin has disappeared.
- A sheet of colored paper,
- a clear glass,
- a handkerchief,
- a coin.
Place the glass on the sheet of paper, make an outline and cut the circle out. Then tape it to the glass so when you put it onto a piece of paper the same color it blends in.
Now, what happens when you do this is as you put the glass on a piece of paper and just basically move the paper covered glass over the coin while the whole thing is under the handkerchief, the glass covers the coin. Pull off the handkerchief. The coin will have “disappeared.”
This disappearing coin trick is a great way to help your child develop the exceptional reflex skills, discipline, and confidence required to perform a magic trick. The trick is to get sleight of hand so that when the coin is dropped or slid into the magician’s sleeve, the audience doesn’t notice. It is simple but effective and is a real delight to eyes.
So with these fun and neat tricks, you are ready to showcase your inherent magician and turn heads as a performer.Good luck performing the tricks and don’t forget to practice them a few times before getting to play it in public.
