One wedding photographer is Nairobi-based, and he works under the label Muchiri Frames. He thought to give it back something to the community on the Valentine as an offer for them. It can be an opportunity too and hence he decided to do it correctly. In that thought, he met a couple who was living on the streets, and he decided to give them a complete makeover. But the consequences of the photoshoot were blessing for the couple, and it transformed their life completely.

The title of the project was “Glued for life”, and the photographer first met Sammy who has the nickname of Blackie among his peers. He met him in the Nairobi’s Central Park and was chilling on the grass with some of his friends who were busy in passing the cigarette around. And he found that Sammy was not doing the activity of “puff and pass ritual.”

Sammy declared to the photographer that he was suffering from severe tooth pain and the pain was intolerable. Then they kept on talking, and he told about his girlfriend. Virginia. Sammy took the photographer to introduce him to his girlfriend. The girlfriend declared that she has been on the streets in and out of the last two years. And the road was the first time where the couple met each other.

The couple declared that they had crossed the paths in the Central Park a few times. The couple once met each other in Majengo slum on the outskirts of Nairobi. They discovered the word “Chokoras” which is a derogatory Swahili term and using it we refer to the street kids. They both were homeless but their friendship matured and developed in a healthy way to romantic times. And thus they eventually become a couple.

Well, the photographer was happy to listen to their story and then he decided to give them a gift on the special Valentine’s Day. He started to plan to provide them with a complete makeover and got them thoroughly cleaned at the salon. The couple got an excellent haircut and then tried the new clothes. The couple was looking fresh, and Virginia made up for the first time at the salon for the photoshoot. No one could recognize them in such a way and look radiant. We can see the couple enjoying their mesmerizing photo shoot.

After this, the couple got hopeful in their life. They both planned the best job for themselves. Sammy got to work as a driver while Virginia thought of completing her dream with the position of catering. Well, they both were looking for someone to call them for full-time jobs, and with this, they will not have to stay on the streets. Well, the plan was good for the couple.

After some time the story of the couple went viral, and people tried to help them by offering them good jobs according to their needs and also helped them to lift out of poverty. It is not the matter of the right positions, but many other people helped them with the essentials and also gave them the place for living until they get a good work to do and find their place to live.

A website named, indy100 tried to find out the couple and asked them about the changes in their lives after they underwent the photoshoot. It was the makeover of their entire life. The photographer said, “Sammy and Virginia are doing excellently. Currently putting into consideration the many jobs offers that have come through since their story broke out to see which one suits them best.”
