2. Know your skin undertone

Undertones can guide you well. There are three main types- cold, warm and neutral

  • For cool undertones, use nudes or soft mocha if you have fair skin. Pink or cranberry hues if you have medium skin and ruby or wine shades if you have a deep skin tone.
  • For warm undertones, try pale pinks and peaches for fair skin. Copper or bronze shades for medium, deep and tan skin tone.
  • For neutral undertones, you can try a broad spectrum, including the warm and cold tones.

3. The shape of the lips

  • If your upper lips are more massive, then choose a bright shade for the bottom lip and a dark shade of the same color on the top.
  • If your bottom lips are heavier, pick a color that blends well with your undertone and adds a dash of light nudes in the center of the upper lip.
  • If you have asymmetrical lips, use a pencil to outline the lips with a shade similar to the lipstick you have chosen.
