There is something that interests me when such artwork is so appealing to viewers as this collection of works from Bruce LaBruce. Perhaps it’s the contradiction of exactly what we don’t want to see in society that when it is presented as an art form it is exactly what we want to see
Arrested Motion captured a great account for Bruce LaBruce as he opened “Untitled Hardcore Zombie Project” at Peres Projects in Culver City. In my opinion an exceptional execution as LaBruce’s artistry shining in this breathtaking theme. LaBruce describes himself not as a pornographer but “an artist who works in porn,” having played on his specialty of twisting the horror genre, with his inclusion of fanatical groups, zombies and gay sex.
Perhaps the most interesting side of “Untitled Hardcore Zombie Project” is that its a preview of LaBruce’s next movie which he will begin filming in August. So if you’re in the Los Angeles area, open your mind, head down to Peres Projects and explore the genius of LaBruce’s mind and fascinations after taking in the gruesome nature of the works with the show closing on June 27
